  1. This cd is a welcome change from the usual fare at Christmas time. It has wonderful vocals and no instruments. You won't miss them. It gets away from bells and choirs and strings. The best song is Christmas Means Love, which was a Soul Stirrers song. Other standouts are Do you hear what I Hear, This time of the Year, and You're all I want for /5(10).
  2. As a contrast, the other Otis track, Merry Christmas baby, is pure fun. Carla Thomas contributes two songs while Joe Tex, Solomon Burke, William Bell and Ray Charles all feature on one song each. All these tracks are excellent and are typical of the performers/5(32).
  3. Editors’ Notes Christmas doesn’t get more soulful than this collection of tunes dominated by R&B titans from the Stax/Atlantic roster of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Some ease into their celebrations of the season, like Otis Redding in his gently pleading “White Christmas,” and some tear the place down, like Clarence Carter with his roaring, stomping “Back Door Santa.”.
  4. Otis Redding's performances of "White Christmas" and "Merry Christmas, Baby" are alone worth the price of admission. Clarence Carter's funky "Back Door Santa" and Joe Tex's ballad "I'll Make Every Day Christmas (For My Woman)" are only two more tracks that make this collection an absolute must-have CD.9/

  7. Yes, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is the first track on this disc and probably the one that everybody has heard before. It's my favorite on the album. But so much emphasis is placed on this one song that I'd like to give a little nod to the rest of this album/5().
  8.
